ck

The system orientated application ckTool can be used instead of Program Manager. This alternative Windows interface enables common tasks and it can give useful information.

ckTool is slim and consumes only few of RAM/ Resources - It works well on a 386 CPU!

It's philosophy maybe a bit odd cause used via the system menu of the icon or the taskbar button if used in Windows 9x and higher.

ckTool is 1.2 is available in german language and in english. Here you see ckTool in Windows XP.

If you want to have an idea of the program interface you can open the german lang helpfile ck-de.hlp to browse in. That includes a simulation of the system menu to learn it. Helpfile in english is available soon! If you want to read the english online documentation file then can you load ck.pdf.

ckTool is designed for Windows 3.1 and works also good with Windows 9x and Me. The Windows NT-Branch uses application restrictions, so the application works less fine. It needs administrator rights to work normally! The support of Windows Vista is limited to using parts of cktool, Windows 7 is worth to try with it. In Windows 64-Bit Microsoft took out the support of 16-Bit apps.
One is important before you test ckTool: Make sure you have a copy of CTL3D.DLL either in the directory where ckTool is installed or in your WindowsSystemDirectory - see in Windows 3.1 and 9x in C:\Windows\system, Windows NT uses C:\WINNT\System32, WinXP and higher are using the C:\Windows\System32 directory. In the file ck.7z below you can find the dynamic link library by Microsoft - they allow to ship it with own programs.

The downloadable archive ck.7z contains the actual ckTool without an installer. You need also the CTLD3D Libraries. The files from the Download area at old my german language site maybe not loadable in 16Bit or they contain older versions, also the personal site contain the german language versions. Some downloads include the sourcecode.

We begin actually to create a new way to use Windows for 32Bit and 64Bit platforms, a new main version of this tool.
